Curt Heidt

Heidt, Curt, IFMCV Board Member is Vice President and Community Investment Officer for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines (FHLB) since 1997.   In this position, Heidt develops and implements outreach and technical assistance programs in affordable housing and community lending across the FHLB five-state trade area.  Heidt assisted in the development of the FHLB Rural Leadership Development Programs, Rural Capital Advance Program, and 4 regional conferences on rural issues.  He has 34 years of financial institution and nonprofit experience ranging from the financing of housing to economic development strategies.  Heidt received the 2005 Spirit of Main Street Award from the Iowa Main Street Program.  In 2006, Heidt received the Visionary Partner Award for the North Central Region from Neighbor Works America--a national nonprofit housing and financial technical assistance provider.  Heidt serves on the Community Vitality Center (advisory) Board for Iowa State University Extension and Northern Great Plains Inc., a nonprofit rural vitality organization serving the five-state region of the same name.  Heidt has served in several capacities on the Advisory Board of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, including National Trust Loan Committee, Executive Committee, Trustee’s Budget and Finance Committee, and Community Revitalization Committee. He has served as Chair of the Iowa Rural Development Council and on the advisory Council to Iowa Community Development, L.C.- a statewide Community Development Entity (CDE) for New Market Tax Credits from the Department of Treasury. Heidt received Bachelor of Science Degrees in History and Political Science from Iowa State University in Ames.
